Bespoke Tailoring
Elegance personified
A beautifully tailored bespoke suit will match with your body perfectly – something an ‘off the peg’ or even a ‘made to measure’ garment cannot ever accomplish.
‘Bespoke’ comes from ‘bespeak’, a 16th-century English word used to refer to requiring goods to be made to order; in essence, it means simply asking for something to be done and entrusting the craftsman to use his skill and judgment to produce the result. In tailoring, this means having garments made to fit a specific customer as a truly unique or “one-off” piece. As created, the garment will fit only them, being tailored to fit every single line of their body.
At Alsleben London, we provide a bespoke tailoring service for everyone. If you want a special garment not shown on our list, simply discuss it with us and we will always do our best to accommodate. Because our service is entirely bespoke, we can make any garment to suit the customer, from a suit for the boardroom all the way through to something suitable for the Royal Enclosure at Ascot.

What to expect when you place an order
Gordon prides himself on working closely with the customer to achieve their vision for the garments ordered, offering support and guidance where necessary, taking into account the client’s requirements and wishes, whilst also suggesting something new or different to help the process along. Customers are fully involved in the process. To those customers who want it, Gordon enjoys explaining how bespoke tailoring takes place so that customers can understand how the garment comes together. Equally possible is simply describing the desired final product and leaving the rest to Gordon. Once your order is placed with us, it will be carefully tailored by our master craftsmen. When complete, you will be asked to attend for fittings so that any alterations can be made. Typically, three to four fittings are required.

Finished garment
Consistent with this level of craftsmanship and perfectionism, a finished garment will typically require over 80 hours of bespoke tailoring in our workshop to ensure the client receives the very best results. All garments are stitched by hand.
When both you and Alsleben London are satisfied with the fit, your garment will be completed, and a final fitting will take place to ensure that the garment is to your exact requirements. The whole process will normally take in the region of four to eight weeks, depending upon the complexity of the design and the availability of the customer. After delivery, we will be on hand to make any final adjustments and provide aftercare, as required to ensure that the silhouette required is maintained.
When the final fit is concluded, Gordon will store your pattern for any further orders.
The bespoke tailoring process
The bespoke tailoring process at Alsleben comprises the following:
Choice of cloth
Gordon will provide his expert knowledge in order to guide customers expertly through a myriad of important decisions. Once the fabric is chosen to suit the occasion, we will look at your personal preferences with regard to cut.
Measuring, figure observation, careful cutting, and accurate fitting
Careful notes will be taken of the individual characteristics of the figure so that an overall picture of the shape is obtained as well as an assessment of size.
Bespoke cutting
The garment is cut to suit the size, shape and aesthetic desires of the client. Our focus is on comfort and the ability to create the perfect silhouette. Where required, precise tailoring can mask and conceal imperfections and accentuate features as desired, ensuring that you always look your best.
Final fittings
These fittings are essential in order to achieve accuracy of fit, flattering style lines and accurate interpretation of your wishes.
You can rest assured that we will make the whole process as smooth and straightforward as possible. We may take up to 30 measurements at each fitting, but you should never find this obtrusive. The process is carried out as discreetly as possible, obtaining the measurements quickly and without fuss.
