History
Alsleben London is a family bespoke tailoring business, headed by Gordon Alsleben who has over 40 years’ experience in bespoke tailoring. Alsleben London create men’s tailored suits to the highest of standards using time-honored traditional methods. As a bespoke master tailor, he has worked in many well known companies in Savile Row, such as Huntsman, Kilgour and Ede & Ravenscroft. His career has embraced both bespoke and manufactured tailoring across Europe, India and China.
As would be expected of a master tailor, Gordon is, of course, skilled as a cutter, coat maker, trouser maker, and waistcoat maker; he crafts by hand and cuts and makes all garments himself, to the exceptional standards of Savile Row. There is no request he has not dealt with, no alteration he not made, no skill he has not brought to bear, and no technique he has not perfected. All those skills and all of that experience go into each garment he crafts.
Alsleben London has a significant pedigree
Alsleben London has a significant pedigree. Looking back, that Gordon would become a bespoke tailor was almost inevitable. His grandfather was a cutter at Huntsman and tailored for King Edward VIII. Gordon’s father was also a master tailor, creating garments for the actor Roger Moore (of James Bond fame) and for Frank Sinatra. Gordon continues this long and proud tradition, having tailored for David Bowie and for Alexander McQueen, as well as many famous politicians and statesmen worldwide.
Master Certificate
In 2020 Gordon was presented with a Master Certificate. The Master Certificate Scheme is part of the Livery Companies Skills Council and run in partnership with City and Guilds of London Institute. The presentation was by The Rt. Hon The Lord Mayor, Alderman William Russell (right) and Mr Nicholas Hunter Jones, Master of the Merchant Taylors’ Company (left).
